Thieves left items stolen from a home in Caya Araroet hidden in the garden for later pick up. Police found the items in the garden when they walked around the house and confiscated them to check for fingerprints. Among the items was a bag with a Macbook,
Venezuelan man detained in Shivas robbery investigation
Authorities detained a Venezuelan man on suspicion of involvement in the Shivas jewelry store armed robbery. He is the first suspect being arrested in this investigation. There are more people involved in the robbery. None of the stolen items have been found yet.
Old fireworks confiscated at Sing Fung Food Center and Bo Wah Sero Blanco
During routine checks to ensure that retailers handle fireworks in the safest manner possible, the fireworks committee found outdated fireworks from, among others, 2008, 2009 and 2010 at Sing Fung Food Center and Bo Wah in Sero Blanco. According to the law, retailers and wholesalers are supposed to return unsold fireworks to the central warehouse in Wela, where they are checked for expiration/production dates and if necessary destroyed.
The police's Armed Robbery Team arrested one woman, J. De Freitas, in connection with the investigation into a series of armed robberies and car theft. She might be or might have been in a relationship with the man, Fingal, arrested in Koyari a few days ago. She remains in custody.
The suspect who was detained a few days ago in Koyari on suspicion of armed robbery and car theft has been released. Two arrests had taken place a few days ago, Zievinger in Ponton and Fingal in Koyari, the two men are friends and suspected of the same crimes. The main suspect, Zievinger is still in custody. Fingal's (ex-)girlfriend has been arrested in the meantime and remains in detention.
A young man was shot in a drive by shooting in front of Circle K in the early morning hours on Thursday. He was shot at by a hooded man in a white Toyota Yaris. The victim ran into Boliviastraat, where he hid in the yard of a home. The man was injured at his leg, he suffered quite some blood loss, but was not at risk of losing his life.
Motorcyclist collides with traffic island, badly injured
A motorcyclist collided with a traffic island on L.G. Smith Boulevard, his helmet flew off and he hit his head on a rock. The accident took place on Thursday in the early morning hours. The man was conscious, but badly injured. He remains at hospital in a delicate condition.
Youngsters try to escape from police, collide with car at Marriott roundabout
Saturday evening police officers indicated the driver of a white Mitsubishi Lancer to stop for a routine check. He refused to stop and sped down the road. Police followed the car from Palm Beach Plaza to the Marriott roundabout, where the young men had collided with the car. The youngsters had no driving license and the number plate was a forgery.
Sharda Nuboer sentenced to Afl. 600 fine for fatal accident while DUI
Some months ago Sharda Nuboer ran over a pedestrian. She did not stop, but drove to her home and only later turned herself in to police and was detained. She was being charged of fatally injuring the pedestrian while DUI and driving a car with dark tinted windows. Prosecution prolonged her detention, after which a judge of instruction had her released. The public prosecutor's office appealed the decision and Nuboer was once again detained, but released once more on September 12.
Firemen fought a fierce fire at Sombre 34 Friday afternoon. Neighbors had called firefighters when they saw smoke coming out of the house. Four small children and four adults lost their home. The house, which was completed in 1996, is insured, family said.
