A young man was stabbed in the back and arm Sunday night outside of his house in Bushiri complex. Neighbors and his mother found the victim bleeding on the ground. The aggressors left the area in a silver Nissan Vesta number A-51001. Police began a search for the person who had inflicted the wounds, but found nothing. The aggressors had been looking for the man and even broke a window Sunday morning. They found him in the afternoon, all the while he was trying to hide in the bushes and get home when it became dark. The victim had been helped by a friend, who applied pressure on the wound to avoid excessive blood loss. Paramedics stabilized the victim and transported him to hospital. An investigation is ongoing.

Sunday night different units of the police force conducted a search throughout the country side in Calbas, where they had detained four suspects Sunday afternoon in an investigation into an armed robbery. Police labor union SPA's vice president Lloyd Wever on Friday announced that finally the detective's unit is moving to its new location on February 25 and he requested the assistance of the Parliament's Justice Committee for finding a solution for the other departments. The issue on hand is the renovation of the police precinct in Oranjestad, where police is at work in an inadequate building that has been declared to have "sick building syndrome".

A 60-year-old man passed away during a snorkeling trip with Palm Pleasure on Thursday. The man was with his partner in the water when the tour guide noticed he was floating, but looked unresponsive. The catamaran's crew immediately went into action and got the man back on the boat. Rapid responders met the catamaran at the pier, but could not do anything more to revive him. Family members of the man said he had a heart condition and had been operated on in the past. Victim assistance was present to help his partner who was in shock.

Thursday morning a labor dispute went out of hand when Diamonds International management obligated its employees to take a lie detector test. Police was called to mediate in the case where management had brought a specialist from New York to conduct the tests on the employees.

Aruba's Police Corps announced in advance the corps would not accept disruptive, unruly behavior, nor DUI during the Carnaval weekend and this type of behavior would automatically lead to an arrest and a fine that has to be paid before release. Early Sunday morning the Coastguard intercepted a boat called Kathy at Punta Basora and upon inspection of the boat they found drugs on board. A man, of initial M, was detained, the boat and drugs were confiscated and brought to a police station. The case is under investigation by the organized crime unit.

After the San Nicolas Carnaval Parade on Saturday police reported they had detained 18 DUI drivers, the licenses of 11 of these drivers were revoked. Members of the Motorcycle Unit were on the road all night and day, beginning with Jouvert Morning until the end of the San Nicolas Carnaval Parade.

On the Pos Abao road a driver suspected of DUI hit a couple from the back with his car, badly injuring the woman. The man was not injured as badly as the woman, but was in shock. Paramedics stabilized the woman, who suffered a head injury and possibly one or more broken ribs, before transporting her to the hospital. The man was also taken to hospital, in a second ambulance.
