True to its corporate philosophy, the Salamander Group had just delivered eight donation checks to local charities. The company, operating a number of prestigious gift, souvenir, fashion and accessory stores on Palm Beach, pledged to donate a percentage of sales from its flagship boutique, T.H. Palm & Company, to support local charities.

The program was named by managing director Jodi Tobman, Tikkun Olam, the Repair of the World, alluding to an ancient Kabala concept according to which our good deeds, aid in the repair of the world and in the reversal of pain and suffering. Tikkun Olam was introduced at T.H. Palm & Company in late 2007, and in March 2008, the first donation checks were already given to a select group of local not-for-profit organizations. This past six months, T.H. Palm & Company, helped raise significant funds for Telephon pa Hubentud, a youth phone help-line, for Fundacion pa Nos Grandinan, an organization dedicated to the welfare of the elderly, for Koningin Wilhelmina Fonds voor de Kankerbestrijding op Aruba, the local cancer fund, for Fundacion Autismo Aruba, promoting understanding of Autism, and helping kids and families affected by the syndrome, also the Edmund Harms foundation, a local hospice organization, and Fundacion pa Hende Muhe den Dificultad, which runs a shelter for victims of spousal abuse and their dependents.

The foundations on the receiving end were all chosen with the help of shoppers who got to have a say concerning the designation of the funds raised by each sale. Besides T.H. Palm & Company, a similar Tikkun Olam program also exists at The Coconut Trading Co., at the Village Mall, where a percentage of sales is donated to Fundacion pa nos Comunidad, FPNC, an organization fighting poverty and promoting well-being! Shop for fun island-living gifts at T. H. Palm & Company, and help make a difference in your community, street side at Playa Linda Beach Resort. Convenient parking is available at the Playa Linda Beach Resort parking lot. You are also invited to find truly unique gifts at The Coconut Trading Co., in the Lobby of the Marriott Ocean Club and at The Village Mall, opposite Radisson Aruba Resort Casino & Spa
