Prison guard caught smuggling BlackBerry phones into KIA PDF Print E-mail

Saturday around 7 a.m. CEA staff which work at KIA prison surprised a prison guard trying to smuggle three BlackBerry phones hidden in a sandwich into the prison. He also had the phone chargers on him. Javier Ras, who has been a prison guard for six years, was immediately detained and handed over to police for further investigation. The investigation will determine who the phones were for, how much Ras was being paid and if he is or not a member of a criminal organization.

Did he also smuggle in a phone for KIA board member Paul Van Der Sloot a few years ago for his son? Or was that another guard like the missing Vicenzo Tromp?
