Members of the Rotary International Club of Aruba announced the start of the annual Rotary Golf Tournament, a sold-out event at the Links at Divi Aruba, on Saturday.
The tournament collected funds for the local not-for-profit foundations such as Sonrisa, dedicated to the welfare of individuals with special needs and Sociaal Fonds Colegio Arubano, an organization within the local high-school, caring for students with lesser means, reports Ravee Boolchand, on the organizing committee.

The shotgun-start of the four-man scramble at 12:30pm heralded an excellent day of golf which culminated with an award ceremony and prizes at 6:30pm, accompanied by an attractive raffle over outstanding, gourmet barbeque dinner, prepared by the Divi culinary brigade directed by executive chef Gerard Coste.

Topcar & Divi Resorts offered a Nissan Juke, for a Hole-in-One on hole #5, and Ultimate Automobiles and Divi Resorts offers a Mini Cooper, for a Hole-in-One on hole #7.  Pepia Est offered the Nearest to the Pin, on holes #5 & #7, a bottle of French Nicolas Feuillatte Champagne.

The tournament could not have been as successful as it was without the remarkable help of sponsors donating prizes for the three top winning teams, namely Digicel, AMC Unicon and Boolchand.

Other sponsors of the event were the Aruba Airport Authority, Aruba Aloe, Tropical Bottling, and the Divi Group, with 9 golf holes sponsored by Caribbean Overseas, CMB, Salt & Pepper, Atlas, New India Assurance, Fatum, Aruba Bank, RBC, Divi Resorts and Jolly Holdings,  and raffle sponsors with attractive gifts from Boolchand’s, Pearl Gems,  Touch of Gold, Screaming Eagle, Flying Fishbone, Amadeus, Pandora, Banjolux, RIU, Cuba's Cookin’, Wema, Paradera Park Apartments, Kooyman, Renaissance Resorts, Chalet Suisse, Pepia Est, Que Pasa, and Marandi restaurants, with food & beverage generously orchestrated with the help of  Compra, Tropical Bottling, Aruba Trading Company, Romar Trading and Divi Resorts.

The winning Travis team included Edson Kelly, Eddy Mohamed, Travis Bernadina and Milton Boezem. They came in ahead of the Complete Solutions team with Nigel Nedd, George Wong, Pablo Carmona and Larry Nedd. Third place winners, the Four Stooges, included Greg Martis, Giovanni Atencio, Pierre Rafini and Alex Molina.

Rennie Arends and Otto Van Dieren came closest to the pin on holes #5 & #7 respectively. Edson Kelly enjoyed the longest drive.
