The Aruba Ports Authority has in place a plan to move the current harbor that is being used for freight ships to Barcadera. The current harbor will be redeveloped in a shopping and recreation area. In order to comply with transparency policies The Aruba Ports Authority had to give the opportunity to all companies that have interest to invest and execute the new plan to show their interest. Although 15 companies showed interest up to now the only company handed in an official bid. This is the company ASTEC. ASTEC is the company that currently operates the cargo harbor of Aruba. The company will need to invest 40 million dollars while The Aruba Ports Authority will invest 22 million dollars.
