Recently, the international organization of Blacks In Government (BIG) visited Aruba with a delegation of nine members who serve as ambassadors.  

Annual, the Chairman's Leadership Excursion travels to the Caribbean to get to know more about an island and to donate to the benefit of families and youth facing difficulties.  This year's delegations consisted of Farrell J Chiles, past Board of Directors' Chairman, Delores Ivy of St. Louis, Missouri, Tonya Davis, Hazel Gaines, and Nadine Harris from Los Angeles, California; Maxine Johnson, Northern California; Carolyn Culpepper, Birmingham, Alabama; Patience Holmes Washington, DC; and Amiticaia Maloon-Gibson from Melbourne, Florida who coordinated the visit with the Aruba Tourism Authority representatives Mr. Ernest Giel and Mr. Jonathan Boekhoudt.  The group visited St. Anna's school and made a donation to the principle to assist in the rebuilding of the school. After the visit to St. Ana School the group took a nice island tour with the ATA Representatives.

Blacks In Government (BIG) established in 1975 has over 200 chapters and members throughout the United States and in several countries.  It's headquarters is located in Washington, DC.  The organization advocates on behalf of African American public service employees at the city, county, state, and federal levels and provides educational and professional assistance to its members.  BIG also is a community based organization that assist and uplifts youth and others through mentoring and educational programs. The Aruba Tourism Authority would like to thank the BIG organization for their visit and their contribution to the Aruban community.
