Rotary Club of Aruba installs new board

The Rotary Club of Aruba recently celebrated the installation of the President and Board for 2011-2012. The new board consists of: Francis de Windt, President and boardmembers Ravee Boolchand, Gerardo Oduber, Joost Lomans, Ephraim De Lannoy, Edwin Tromp, Frans Brinkman and Peter Steinmetz. Rotary Club of Aruba was founded on August 13, 1938 and at present has 55 members. Rotarian Gerardo Oduber was nominated for the Paul Harris award and Koos Veel for the Paul Harris Safire Award. They were both admitted to The Paul Harris Society. Paul Harris is the founder of the Rotary Club.

General Store has winners!

You are always a winner at General Store. Recently the prizes for the winner of the Mother’s and Father’s Day Raffle were given out. General Store gave out the prizes for the Mother’s and father’s Day Raffle, which was held the third week in June. Two lucky and happy clients received their Certificate for a Catered 3-Course Dinner (on the day and time of their preference) for 4 persons each, which was the prize for the Mother’s Day Event, while 6 lucky and happy winners received their prize for the Father’s Day raffle, which was a power-tool each.

Awards for Achievement at El Gaucho Restaurant

Friends and well-wishers gathered this week at the Driftwood Restaurant to wish the owners, members of the Merryweather family, another successful 25 years! Francine Merryweather and her son Herbert, his wife Carolina and the restaurant’s staff enjoyed a champagne toast with guests, escorted by the restaurant’s famous seafood hors d’hoeuvres, in honor of the special day.

JCI Aruba recruits new members

During the month of June, JCI Aruba (Junior Chamber International of Aruba) conducted a recruitment campaign to attract new members. The campaign included various workshops for members and their invitees. Among others the members offered a workshop entitled “Decoding the Leader’s Messages”, held an information evening, participated at ArubActivo on Plaza Daniel Leo and gave a seminar on “Personal Branding”. JCI is an international organization for young men and women ages 18 to 40. Label [5] Tour at Caribbean Store, E Boco and New Shang Hai was great fun

Saturday afternoon the official representative of Label [5], Aruba Trading Company, hosted the first Label [5] Tour in Noord, with stops at among others Caribbean Store, E Boco and New Shang Hai. All Label [5] drinks were sold at only Afl. 5, while Label [5] Girls shared out samples and t-shirts to all who bought and tasted the new whisky. This coming weekend, the tour continues in Tanki Leendert, with visits to Tienda Geerman, 4 Seas Restaurant and Cas Casuela beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday and on Saturday, with stops at Café Capri and Samba Caramba.
