The Free Zone is the site of a grand exposition by different contemporary artists from the Caribbean region, who will be presenting their work at the First Aruba Bienale.

The works by 26 international, renowned artists will be arriving on Aruba and will be on display at the exposition themed “Happy Islands”, opening officially on Saturday, October 19. Already at work are Tirso Marta and David Bade from Curacao. Tirso Marta is known for his installations, which draw much attention for their enigmatic and politically charged themes. David Bade is known since the nineties as a rebel installation artist, who combines drawings, paintings and elements from sculptures. His art is “anti esthetic” and testimony of his criticism on social relationships within the community.
