Tuesday afternoon, Prime Minister Mike Eman, Minister of Finance Mike de Meza and Minister of Economic Affairs Michelle Hooyboer-Winklaar on behalf of the government signed a protocol with local financial institutions, including commercial banks, insurance companies and the Aruba Investment Bank, AIB.

The protocol includes various bilateral commitments, including the establishment of a fund for assisting small and medium-size businesses and the company Stadsherstel N.V., which has as goal to purchase, renovate, rent or sell monumental buildings and other buildings of historic value. Additionally, the government and financial institutions are to establish a foundation that has as goal to promote civic responsibility and community involvement among local youngsters. The involved parties will also promote and participate actively in recruiting local youngsters living abroad for work, through job markets and other events that encourage young people to complete their studies and return to the island to work.
