An Aruba delegation, led by Minister of Finance, Communication, Utilities and Energy Mike de Meza, was in Guyana exploring opportunities for collaboration with the country. The delegation visited the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Mr. Robert Persaud to discuss investment opportunities and other areas of cooperation between Guyana and Aruba.
De Meza said some areas of common interest include tourism, agriculture and alternative energy. The delegation visited an oil and gas rig to take a look at what is being done in Guyana. The Minister explained that Aruba is currently studying if the island has oil or gas reserves in its waters and the prospects are very good. One of the companies in the running to carry out the exploration is Repsol, a company that is also active in Guyana. The Aruba delegation was in Guyana from Wednesday to Friday.
