On Thursday, the minister of education Arthur Dowers visited Washington Elementary to see the progress on the renovation process.

The headmistress Mimi Lampe informed the minister that construction was over at the affected building and they were ready to move back the classes that had to be moved to YMCA Dakota and Kudawecha school back to Washington.

The school suffered considerable damage from a downdraft last year, merely weeks after the academic year started. The roof of one of the two buildings had to be removed and replaced completely, ceilings had caved in, damaging materials and posing great danger for those using the buildings.

The Minister thanked among others the contractor, Geerman, DOW, FDA and all parties who dealt with this emergency as fast and efficient as possible.
