Lorna Varlack: Three museums for San Nicolas |

Member of Parliament Lorna Varlack said that in addition to the watertower undergoing a complete restoration, three museums are slated to be established in San Nicolas.
Once the watertower is restored, Aruba's utilities companies will set up an exhibit inside the tower. At Joe Laveist Sport Park there will be a sport museum and a Carnaval musuem will be established in the building which used to house the Greenhill Supermarket.

Otmar Oduber, minister of tourism and transport last week presented a colorful carpet containing various logos and local phrases at the Reina Beatrix International Airport.
The minister praised the airport's team for the improvements in design at the airport, where a year ago they agreed that more than a commercial operation, the airport should be offering better service and in general the buildings should become a friendlier place. Among others the airport will have a stand where Aruba Tourism Authority associates can hand out island information. Among events being promoted upon arrival of guests will be the weekly Carubbian Festival in San Nicolas. Local artists will also be invited to exhibit their art and products in this area. |

New Dutch Minister of Interior and Kingdom Relations visits Aruba |

The new Dutch Minister of Interior and Kingdom Relations Liesbeth Spies was on Aruba for a short visit to introduce herself to the government and people of Aruba. She met with Governor Fredis Refunjol and Prime Minister Mike Eman, among others.
On Friday morning she also participated at an event of the FCCA, social housing foundation and Bo Bario Team in San Nicolas, where they unveiled a sign announcing projects that are taking place and are scheduled to take place in San Nicolas. Ministers Eman, De Meza and Sevinger hosted the event, where engineer Raffy Kock and Stan Kuiperi gave an explanation of the projects. Antoni Gario, an artist from San Nicolas, as a spontaneous gesture, presented Minister Spies with a CD of his band's music. At the occasion, they also launched the next phase in the "Paint your neighborhood" campaign in Village.
The campaign was launched in June 2010 in Playa Pabao and entails involving youngsters from the different FCCA neighborhoods in painting the foundation's rental homes in their own neighborhoods. The youngsters are taught how to do the work, they are provided with all materials and supervision and are paid for their work. The homes in six neighborhoods have already been completed. The Ministers and the inhabitants of the home picked up brushes and started painting the first house to indicating the beginning of the project.
