Gerard van den Tweel, who owns the Albert Heijn franchise on Curacao, has bought Ling and Sons IGA Supermarket. He owns supermarkets on Bonaire and Curacao and has been trying to establish a company on Aruba since 2009.
He will be opening a second Albert Heijn shortly on Curacao. Apparently Ling and Sons IGA will not be rebranded to become an Albert Heijn franchise, but Van den Tweel has said he wants to maintain and expand Ling and Sons Supermarket’s position in the Aruban market.
