In an interview SEPPA labor union leader Magaly Brito commented on the meeting they had just sustained with Prime Minister Mike Eman, during which labor union representatives expressed their concern about the lack of interest from some ministers for the Social Dialogues.

At these meetings mostly only the prime minister and Minister Mike de Meza are always present. Brito said she feels the prime minister is also concerned about this situation. She expressed that it seems the other ministers are not interested in the Social Dialogues. Considering that the government is the largest employer on the island and SEPPA is the labor union representing most of these employees, Brito said this puts the labor unions in general, but especially SEPPA in a delicate position.

She also commented that it is advisable that ministers whose departments are being discussed or are involved in one way or the other be present at the meetings as well.

Brito said she believes that the dialogues have to be strengthened again and the trust has to be restored, because good things have been achieved in the benefit of all workers in general and not only for those represented by a labor union during the Social Dialogues.
