 An Aruba-bound American Airlines flight from Miami on Sunday had to make an emergency landing on Jamaica after Member of Parliament Rene Herde (AVP) fell ill during the flight. Aruban surgeon, dr. Tim Peterson was on board and Mr. Herde's situation was serious enough for him to request the Captain to make an emergency landing and get Herde medical attention as soon as possible. An ambulance was waiting at the airport and paramedics immediately gave Herde a check-up. Although after 15 minutes he was told by paramedics that he was stable enough to continue the trip, it was decided that Herde be transported to the hospital in Kingston for observation. The flight took off a while later.
