The minister of defense of the Netherlands, Hans Hillen is on Aruba and on Wednesday afternoon brought a visit to the Dutch Marines Base in Savaneta. He was accompanied by his delegation and Prime Minister Mike Eman.
At the base he visited the young men who voluntarily enrolled into the social development program which was launched earlier this year.
This program is a co-op between the Dutch and the Aruban governments to help school drop outs and at risk young men to acquire certain skills to increase their chances of proper development towards finding a job or getting interested again in their education, amongst others.
Mr. Hillen spoke to the young men at the base and later also visited with the six men who already completed the marine base training and have moved on to on-the-job training in the security department of the Aruba Ports Authority.
