On Thursday, Minister Mike de Meza of Finance, Communication, Utilities and Energy visited the state owned company Free Zone Aruba NV. At the beginning of 2012, Minister De Meza introduced new rules regarding the free zone: Companies active in the service industry can acquire an address outside of the free zone to showcase its products, while the actual movement of the merchandise remains within the free zone under normal customs supervision.
The minister was interested in the developments in regards to this new agreement and brainstormed with Free Zone Aruba NV director Greg Peterson on more strategies regarding innovation of Aruba's free zone product and the supporting role this could have in the government's intentions of developing Aruba as part of the Dutch Kingdom in a so-called Green Gateway. Aruba aims to become a "Green Gateway", a strategic connection between Europe and Latin America. Aruba's free zone has shown a positive growth in the past ten years. In 2011, the company recorded a growth of 13%.

Dear sirs,
I have just returned to the US after my first trip to Aruba.
What could have been a blissful week in tropical paradise turned into several days of anger, disappointment and deep sorrow as I discovered all of the stray animals that are sick, hungry and homeless. I could not believe the manner in which these animals were treated. There is absolutely no reason that this government should allow these dogs to keep reproducing only to round them up and kill them. Your idea of animal control is despicable and
inhumane. I met and spoke with several people who volunteer many hours trying to save as many of these animals that they can yet Aruba's own government does nothing. but kill them. While this might be an overwhelming task for individuals it would be quite simple for the government to provide spay/neuters rather than kill. I will not be spending any more of my money vacationing on =
this Island and I will not recommend it to anyone until something is done to stop this animal cruelty.
