French art critic visits Aruba |

Art critic Michele Dalmace visited Aruba and met with the group working on realizing the Aruba Bienal at their head office in Paradera. Dalmace is carrying out an investigation on contemporary Caribbean art. She met with Ciro Abath, Nelson Gonzalez, Glenda Heyliger, Stan Kuiperi, Osaira Muyale, Ryan Oduber and Ken Wolff.

On Tuesday, March 6, Ramon Todd Dandare, member of the committee that produced the "Manual di Gramatica di Papiamento - Morfologia", presented a copy of the manual to Minister Plenipotentiary of Aruba in The Hague, The Netherlands, Edwin Abath. Alwin Toppenberg was also present and received a copy of the book as well. Dandare said a next manual containing rules on "Sintaxis" will hopefully be published at the end of 2012.

Collective contract signed at hospital |

After months of negotiations a new two-year CAO, collective employment contract, was signed between the hospital and the ABV labor union on Friday. It was an important occasion for the employees, as before they had always signed contracts for one year and each year had challenges negotiating the renewal.

First group of youngsters in social training complete phase I |

On Friday, the first group of youngsters participating at a social training program with the Dutch Marines completed the first phase of their program. A celebration was held, where in the presence of their family members, members of Parliament, Commander Hofma and General Swijgman, Prime Minister Mike Eman presented the certificates to the 12 participants and they received their berets from Captain Werleman.

UNOCA celebrates 25th anniversary with a concert by local musicians |

In commemoration of its 25th anniversary UNOCA is offering the community of Aruba a concert by local singers and musicians on April 14 at 8 p.m. at Cas di Cultura. A total of 31 singers, including soloists, duos and trios will present 17 compositions by local songwriters in the Papiamento language.
