Aruba Red Cross instructors recently completed an emergency response course for St. Eustatius and Saba colleagues; the first part of the training took place last year on St. Eustatius and the last part on Saba. Eight men and women completed the course offered by Marla and Mayra.

Sachiel Tromp is only eight years old, but has already authored a book. The youngster started writing his story on the day his great-grandmother passed away and he adopted her dog. He considers Bingo a special gift from his Malu. Minister of Justice and Education, Arthur Dowers enjoyed a moment with Sachiel on Thursday. They talked about his book "Bingo, e cacho di mi Malu" (Bingo, my Malu's dog) and the youngster even signed the book for the minister. Dowers wished him much success in school and encouraged Sachiel to continue enjoying the pleasure of reading and writing stories.

This week a five-year agreement between the clinic in San Nicolas, IMSAN and Baptist Health South Florida was signed. Baptist Health executive George Foyo explained the clinic is to be converted into a hospital that will provide care not only to locals, but also to patients from other Caribbean nations.

After a fire that started in the Witec building destroyed Antraco's offices and storerooms, Antraco management has been making and executing plans to accommodate their clients as well as their employees. In an interview with Robert Croes, he said they have a plan of actions in place and employees should rest assured that they will not lose their jobs. Croes said they are keeping all parties well informed. They have also had a moment with all employees where everyone could talk about the experience and share their thoughts about what happened.

Thursday morning, 23 young women and men were welcomed to Aruba's prison team by the minister of justice, KIA prison management and the chief of police. The recruits will follow a six-month course, followed by six months of practical training to receive their certification as "Beveiliger Penitentiaire Inrichting".

Friday morning a fairly large boat, which was identified as the new party boat on Aruba, came close to shore at Surfside Beach with the intention of staying for Saturday's Gentleman concert. Maritime Police approached the boat and found that their documents were not in order.

Art critic Michele Dalmace visited Aruba and met with the group working on realizing the Aruba Bienal at their head office in Paradera. Dalmace is carrying out an investigation on contemporary Caribbean art. She met with Ciro Abath, Nelson Gonzalez, Glenda Heyliger, Stan Kuiperi, Osaira Muyale, Ryan Oduber and Ken Wolff.
