On Monday afternoon, STA labor union won two out of the three referendums that were held for Marriott Casino employees. The first resulted in a tie and did not get the majority's vote.

Once again the Easter period has arrived. Starting Friday March 31, 2012 through Sunday April 8, 2012 we will be expecting several charter flights from mostly Caracas and Maracaibo, Venezuela. The airlines that are providing the most charters or extra flights are Estelar and Venezolana ( approximately 20 flights each) followed by Laser, Tiara, Avior and Perla Airlines.

The original idea came from the Women's Club of Aruba, which wanted to start a tree planting project. They approached the Minister of Agriculture Otmar Oduber, who thought it was a great idea, hence the 10 Thousand Fruit Trees for Aruba project.

The SPA labor union invited the National Police Defense Foundation of the U.S.A. to the island; the meeting was realized through mediation from a retired member of the Aruba Police Force. The intention is for the foundation to lend SPA a hand in different areas.

DPL (department of labor progress) is putting a helpdesk exclusively available to the men and women who were laid off by Valero or contractors working within the refinery, to mediate and help find them new jobs.
