Police labor union SPA's vice president Lloyd Wever on Friday announced that finally the detective's unit is moving to its new location on February 25 and he requested the assistance of the Parliament's Justice Committee for finding a solution for the other departments. The issue on hand is the renovation of the police precinct in Oranjestad, where police is at work in an inadequate building that has been declared to have "sick building syndrome".

SPA asked the committee to intervene for their relocation to Horizonte Building to take place as soon as possible.

Wever said that SPA hopes the committee puts the health of the police officers as their priority and does not make them wait for months as money should not be the priority above the health of the employees. Wever said that the minister of justice expressed that he is waiting for the report that declares the precinct as having sick building syndrome, but the labor union is of the opinion that the minister is well aware of the dire situation which is damaging to people's health.

SPA urges the minister and the committee to realize the urgency of the matter and to take action.
