Thursday morning a labor dispute went out of hand when Diamonds International management obligated its employees to take a lie detector test. Police was called to mediate in the case where management had brought a specialist from New York to conduct the tests on the employees.
The tests began on Wednesday, without previous notification and Police had gone to the company already then to attend to this, which was taking place in the second floor offices. When Police stepped in on Thursday morning they found the specialist, who is a former Police Inspector from New York at work with her lie detector equipment. Local Police told her to pack up her equipment and accompany them to the Oranjestad precinct. Warda Nos Costa officers were also present at the jewelry store as immigration and labor laws had been violated. The Labor Department was notified of the situation and will initiate an investigation.
