Two young men who had robbed a home in Dakota at gunpoint on Monday in the early morning hours were detained in Santa Cruz during a traffic control. Police were confronted with the stench of marijuana coming from the car.
The men’s suspicious behavior led to police asking them to step out of the car for a search. Police found marijuana and a bag with stolen items in the car, as well as a gun and some other articles used to commit robberies. The car was confiscated and the investigation was instigated. The police team in charge of investigating armed robberies took over the case. The young men, ages 17 and 18, live in Piedra Plat. In Dakota on Monday, the two men had tied up the three family members inside the house and stole money, a car, electronics and jewelry. More arrests might take place in the coming days.
