Friday afternoon around 5 o'clock, police were notified by 911 that someone had drowned at Baby Beach. Upon arrival, San Nicolas police found tourists who are doctors and paramedics giving CPR to a woman. The victim and her husband, hailing from the U.S.A., are here on vacation.
They came to the island with a group led by a local tour operator and were visiting the area and snorkeling in the bay. Victim Support was called to assist the woman's husband, who was in shock and unable to talk. The victim was transported to the medical center in San Nicolas, where she was declared dead around 6:10 p.m. by Dr. Jaramillo. The victim is Jing Wei, born in the U.S.A. on July 29, 1963. She was staying with her husband at the Holiday Inn Resort. There is no indication or suspicion of foul play, but according to standard routine, the case is under investigation.
